As many of you already know, if you are my Facebook friend, coworker, family, or friend, that Hank and I are expecting. One question that Ive been asked the most is, "was it planned?" And the answer to that is oh yes, very much so. (insert smile)
Hank and I have been together for a little over 10 years and in March of 2013, we will be married for 7 years. Time flies people. Over the years, Hank and I have been very back and forth about having children. "No, yes, maybe, definitely not, one day, never, we'll see?" And it's not that we didnt like kids, we just weren't for sure if it was for us, if we could afford kids, if we would be good parents, and so on!
We built a house last year and were finally able to move into it in January of this year. That's when the baby talk really started. Hank had just turned 30, and I was about to turn 27. It was decided between us that if we were going to have kids (we would probably want more than one) that this year was a great year to start on our little family. We are both getting older and if possible, I wanted to be done with having kids by the time I was 31 or 32. Just a little goal for myself, if it doesn't work out that way, then no big deal!
Its funny how just a year or so ago, I wrote a blog about this mysterious "baby fever" that I had heard so many of my friends talk about. I just couldn't fathom this longing, and sense of need to desperately need and want to have a child. But life sure has a funny way about things. I too, got to find out what this so called baby fever is. I'm sure it's different for everyone, but for me most things in my life somehow brought me around to thinking about a baby. Everyone I saw in town either had a newborn or were pregnant... More people started asking us when we were going to have a baby, and the list goes on and on. This "baby fever" feeds on itself and grows and grows with each day.
On October 1st, Hank and I found out that we were pregnant, and there are no words to describe the thoughts and feelings that I had. I am now 12 weeks. Just barely into my pregnancy, and so far I have been very blessed. No morning sickness at all, just small waves of nausea. Yesterday, we got to hear the heartbeat and it was nothing short of amazing to hear those little thuds! I'm starting to show just a little, but I haven't figured out if it's a baby pooch or just a hamburger pooch. But all of my normal clothes still fit, so that's a plus!
We are very aware that in June our lives will be forever changed, and we are so excited. So far these 12 weeks have flown by and with each week passing, it makes me more eager to find out if we are having a he or a she. I'm sure once we find out our baby's gender, we will be eager for June to get here to meet our sweet baby. Whoever they may be!
A little update on Kandi & Matt (my sister & her husband), they are having a boy! I was completely wrong on my guess that they would have a girl! But we won't REALLY know for sure until it is born, haha. They plan on naming him Hudson and they are still working on a middle name for him!

the baby perception
My previous blog "Thirty before the BIG Thirty" was a list of thirty things that I would like to do before reaching the age of thirty. When writing the list.. about 25 things immediately popped up in my head that HAD to go on the list. Four or five of the rest.. I kinda had to think about.
One of the things that ORIGINALLY made my list was "to have a child".. when I wrote [typed] this as my number 8... I didn't like the way that it looked... or how I had written it. After staring at those 4 words a while.. I deleted the line.. and went on with my list... planning to come back to that "activity" in a later number. If you read the original list.. you may have noticed it didn't make the cut. I went about with activity after activity never naming *child bearing* as one of my to-do's. A few people mentioned this... [I wont say any names] and I immediately remembered the line that I HAD actually written but deleted from my list. Forgetting to add it back later on.
Yes.. I do want a child.
I wouldn't say that baby fever has kicked in by NO means. But I do know in my heart, Lord willing, that I would like to ONE day be a mother. [even though that phrase does sound quite weird coming from me] I'm not sure when that day will be.. but I think it would be such a joy. Several of my close friends have children.. and they are nothing short of a blessing. I've often wondered if I'd be a good mother or not.. but I guess there is only one way to find out.
Until then. We wait. hahha! :)

A day late, a dollar short
Sooo... here I am again. Doing "triple tangent tuesday" on wednesday. ohhh well.. such is life! ahhaha
1. After hanging out with my "Johnson girls" yesterday [Lindsay & Chelsa] and their sweet babies,.. Jett, Kannon & Makayla.. I somewhat have a smidge of baby fever. And I think the word "smidge" is too much. Its just so sweet to see them when they are so little {Jett is five, but quite adorable even though he is no longer a baby.} Whenever I hang out with them.. I have that feeling of "ohhhh yes I definitely want a baby,.." but I know that feeling will subside within the next day or two. I do believe Hank & I will have children ONE day,.. just don't see that "DAY" being anytime soon. In the meantime,.. I will continue to "oooh & ahhhh" over my friend's children. :)
2. Only 128 days until my first half marathon and I couldn't be more excited. [P.S. I'd love for my legs to look like the girl in the middle]
3. I think its weird how much me and my older sister are alike. With her re-doing a damaged house and me building a new one.. we are both having to pick out things/colors/tile/flooring etc for our houses. You wouldn't believe it.. but without the knowledge of the other... we both picked out several paint colors that were the same... two colors being the exact same COLOR & BRAND,... picked out similar small chandeliers for our bathrooms, very similar flooring,.. and the almost exact same back splash for our kitchens. WEIRD,... I KNOW!

Mums the word.
We've all heard it before. "Motherhood just kicks in and you will know when its time." For those of you who went through this feeling and then made the conscious decision to start "trying," you know exactly what I am talking about here.
I'm sure as everyone reads this, they are thinking that I am about to say that I have experienced baby enlightenment and that I'm ready to expand our little family. If those are your thoughts, then I am sad to say that you are wrong. hahhaha.
I would say (just off the top of my head) that about 80% of my friends have at least one child. Several are working on their second and some even their third. I greatly admire these women, let me tell you. I realize that being a mother, and all of the duties that come along with that title, would be one of the hardest jobs to have.. and its definitely one that never ends.
Being around my friends who are mothers.. does to some degree make me want a child of my own. I will definitely admit that. Hank (29) and I (26) have been married for 5 years now. "When are yall having babies??" is definitely a question that we BOTH get asked a lot. We both agree that we want kids, but that "feeling"... that "need to procreate" just hasn't kicked in yet. Not saying that I am doomed if it doesn't happen to me in the next year or so. It's just always something that has intrigued me. Several of my friends have felt that "need" that "want" to have children. I'm just wondering what this mystery magic is all about and will I know that is what it is *if and when* it happens to me!!
As for now, I will enjoy my time playing with all of my friend's babies and gladly handing them back over when I am done! :)
